B-Share Company Focus: Sing Lun Holdings President Li Jianhui Elected SBF Chairman

Sing Lun Holdings President Li Jianhui Elected New Chairman of Singapore Business Federation

Sing Lun Holdings President Li Jianhui has been elected as the new Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), succeeding former Chairman Teo Siong Seng, who earlier announced he would temporarily step down and not seek re-election.

The SBF held its 24th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday (June 24) and elected the 13th Council, with a two-year term ending in 2028.

In a statement, the SBF said the new council comprises 24 members, including 12 elected councilors, 11 representatives from trade associations and chambers, and one co-opted councilor.

Among the six new councilors are Adam Click, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore; Mo Sisiang, President of the Restaurant Association of Singapore; Lee Teck Ming, President of SGTech; and Suhaimi Zainul-Abidin, CEO of hedge fund Quantedge Capital.

Fifth Future Ready Business Dialogue Held Concurrently

During the AGM, the SBF also held the fifth Future Ready Business Dialogue, with guest of honour Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Minister-in-charge of the Public Service and Minister for Defence.

Themed "System-Wide Readiness: What Must Government and Business Change?", the dialogue brought together business executives and policymakers to discuss how companies can enhance resilience, build future-ready capabilities, and navigate growing uncertainties.

Li Jianhui: Ensuring Companies Remain Competitive and Resilient for the Future

The new Chairman Li Jianhui, who is also a Nominated Member of Parliament, said in the statement that geopolitical tensions, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), and shifts in trade patterns are reshaping the global economy, presenting both challenges and opportunities for businesses.

Li said: "My top priority is to ensure that companies remain competitive, resilient, and future-ready. We will work closely with businesses, government, and industry partners to develop practical solutions, foster a pro-business environment, and help companies build the capabilities needed for innovation, internationalization, and sustainable growth."

He also noted that Singapore will assume the ASEAN chairmanship next year, a good opportunity to deepen regional economic integration and strengthen ASEAN as a key engine of global growth. "SBF will work with regional partners to turn these opportunities into tangible business outcomes and promote a more connected, innovative, and sustainable ASEAN."

Li previously served as SBF Vice Chairman and Treasurer. He also acted as Chairman during Teo Siong Seng's temporary absence.

Former Chairman Teo Siong Seng: Not Seeking Re-election After Term Ends

Teo, 71, issued a statement in May saying he would not seek re-election after his SBF chairmanship term ends on June 24. He had earlier temporarily stepped down from his roles as SBF Chairman, Executive Chairman and Director of Pacific International Lines, among others, to deal with allegations from the US Department of Justice.

Earlier, Lianhe Zaobao reported that the US had accused him of involvement in manipulating dry bulk container prices.
